PHOTOSHOP is a very widely used software in editing , touching and mixing to create a web layout and to give special effect to photos and images. This software is also helpful in preparing magazines , product , portfolio , brochures , websites , and in editing old photograph. Thus , it is widely used in advertising media. There are many version of PHOTOSHOP but PHOTOSHOP CS3 is the latest powerful software . PHOTOSHOP CS3 version is divided into two parts.
TOOLS IN PHOTOSHOP
HISTOGRAM PALETTE TOOLS

Histogram palette is used to display how image is distributed by intensity level of graphics pixel and its color.it also provided required information about image like shadow (in the left side of histogram ),midtones(in the center of histogram),highlights(on the right side of histogram ).so,correction can be made nicely.
COLOR PALETTE

This palette is used to fill color in the image .It is also used to create new color by mixing two or more colors.
SWATCHES PALETTE

This palette is used to select different colors and to set and save swatches color. It shown different types of color. Library for different types of projects. It is also used add or delete color from the image as well as to set background and foreground color.
STYLE PALETTE

This palette is used to apply present style in the layer . You can also add or store new style in the style palette. Selected present style becomes current layer style.
HISTORY PALETTE

This palette crates different states of changes done in image. It makes at least 20 states. Select any state to bring back image on that state . You can also delete any state from the palette palette.
ACTION PALETTE

This palette is used to record play, save or load any action . It is also used to delete any action. It is also used to give effect of many commands in one action. You can see the effect of all the commends when you play action. It is also used to expend or collapse action and command. You can also put action or command as button.
LAYERS PALETTE

This palette is used to select different colors and to set swatches color. It shows different types of projects. It also used to add or delete new color from the image as well as to set background and foreground color.
CHANNELS PALETTE

This palette is used to crate , manage and edit new channel. There are composite channels like RGB, CMYK , Lab , Image etc ; on the top of the channel palette . Then after , there are different color channels , and then spot channel and alpha channel. It is used to see any image in Individual color channel. It is used to combine more than one channels and to apply it to the image.
PATH PALETTE

This palette used to save selected element as path,so there is no need to use selected action tool to select it again.Element can be selected again using path palette. You can also create new path, copy path and delete the path.
ANIMATION PALETTE

It displays frame mode means, thumbnail of each frame. Tools below the palette are used to set looping option. You can add or delete the frame and can see Animation preview. It also shows additional commands to edit frame, to set timeline duration, and to configure palette display.
A) Select the first frame- To the first frame
B) Select the previous frame- To select the previous frame
C) Play animation- To play animation
D) S--elect the next frame- To select the next frame
E) Tweens animation frame- To add frames between two frames
F) Duplicate selected frame- To make duplicate frame of the selected frame
G) Delete selected frame-To select delete frame .
H) Convert to timeline mode- To convert into timeline mode.
In Photoshop Extended version , Animation Palette can be used in frame mode or timeline mode. Timeline mode displays animation properties of frame duration and document layer, which can zoom in zoom out time display by tools that is below Palette. There are some more tools like toggle onions skin mode , delete key frames , and preview the video etc. Different contents can be used in time line mode like to adjust frame duration for layer , to set key frame for layer properties .
A) Zoom out - To zooom out the image(to make image small in size)
B) Zoom slider- To Zoom in or Zoom out using slider
C) Zoom in- To Zoom in display.
D) Toggle onion skin- To toggle onion skin
E) Delete key frame -To delete key frame
F) Convert to frame animation -To convert into Frame animation
IN Photoshop Extended document, Animation palette displays all the layers in timeline mode. Layer palette is synchronized with animation palette, so , if you add delete ,rename, group,or duplicate image in layer palette ,then ,it is updated in Animation Palette.
CLONE SOURCE PLATTE :

This palette is used to set five different sample sources set of healing brush or clone stamp. You can see overlay of sample source, which helps to clone at fix place. You can also scale and rotate sample source to clone in certin size and orientation . In clone source palette ,sample source video/animation option is used for timeline based animation and target video/animation frame option is used to specify frame relationship
LAYER COMP PALETTE

Designer needs to create compositions or comp of more than one page layout to show it to the client. This palette is used to show more than one layout in single Photoshop title,to manage it and see it.
Layer comp records three types of layer option
1) Layer visibility -To show /hide layer
2) Layer position in the document - To see a layer position in a document.
3) Layer appearance . - To see whether layer blending or layer style is applied or not , to open it, click on layer comp Window layer comp

There are different tools in the tool box which are used to create and edit image, There are total in the tool box. It also has some sub tools . All the tools are categorized into different categories according to their functions. In the Photoshop cs3 there are two new tools -quick selection tools and count tools which are added in the sub tools of magic wand and eye dropper tools respectively
MEASUREMENT LOG PALETTE

Measurement palette record measurement data when we measure object . Every row of the log show measurement set and column shows data in point . A new row is added in the measurement log when we measure object. This log can be recorded in the column . Data in column an be sorted. Column can be deleted and data can be exported to comma delimited text file.

1. Marquee selection tool :
This tool is used to select any part of the image and edit it.
there is 4 sub tools.
Rectangle Marquee tool:
This tool is used to select square or rectangle shape in the image.
Elliptical marquee tool:
This tool is used to select elliptical or oval shape in the image.
Single Row marquee :
This tool is used to select single row of pixel in the image.
Single Column marquee
This tool is used to select single column of pixel in the image.
METHOD TO SELECT USING MARQUEE TOOL;
- First of all,click marquee tool from the tools ,so,4 tools of this tool will appear.
- select rectangle marquee tool from it,so,mouse pointer will be converted into +shape.
- drag the mouse pointer on the part of the image to select it.
- click on any part of the image or press ctrl+d to deselect it.
NEW SELECTION
This option is used to add new selection in the current selection.
SUBTRACT FROM SELECTION
This option is used to subtract or remove selection from current selection.
INTERSECT WITH SELECTION;
When new selection is done using this option,common selection in both into the selection will remain and remaining selection,will be canceled.
FEATHER
This option is used to make the border of image blur or transparent.
ANTI-ALIAS;
This option is used to remove uneven border during the ground selection.
STYLE;
This option is used to select shape of certain size.
2)MOVE TOOL ;
This tool is used to move selected part of the image or layer from one place to another place.
- select the part of the image using selecting tool.

3)LASSO TOOL
This tool is used for freehand selection.This tool is 3 sub tools.
- open image and click on lasso tool from the tool box
- select the lasso tool from it.So,mouse pointer will be changed into shape.
POLYGONAL LASSO TOOL;
This tool is used to selecting image by putting different points on image one by one.Click on the starting point of the image once again to complete the selection.
MAGNETIC LASSO TOOL:
This tool is used to select different color range of the image.It is very easy to select any image using this tool.
4)QUICK SELECTION TOOL
This tool i used to select single color range.
This tool has 2 sub tools.
USE OF THIS TOOL:QUICK SELECTION TOOL:This tool is used to select single color range.
MAGIC SELECTION TOOL:This tool is used for quick selection.it is used to
select adjustable round brush tips.
Option bar shows following option on selecting quick selection tool.
*ANTI-ALIAS:
Click on the check box of this option to get smooth edge.
*CONTIGUOUS:
Click on the check box of this option to select the adjustment area of the same color.
*SAMPLE ALL LAYERS:
Click on the check box of this option to select same color from all the layers.Otherwise,select colors from only active players.
*TOLERANCE :
This magic wand tool is used to set the tolerance value in the selection.Its range is 0-225 and its default value is 32.If its value will be less than selection will be less, and if its value will be more ,then selecting will be more.
*OPTION BAR SHOWN FOLLOWING OPTION ON SELECTING MAGIC WAND TOOL.
*ADD,NEW,SUBTRACT:
This option is used to select new area,as well as add selection and to remove selection .out of these three ,any one is always selected.
*BRUSH SIZE:
This option is used to set brush size.
*SAMPLE ALL LAYERS:
Click on the check box of this option to select same color fro, all layers.Otherwise,color will be selected only from active layer .
*AUTO-ENHANCE:
This option is used to remove rough ness of the selected boundary.
5)CROP TOOL:
This tool is used to remove unwanted part of the image.
1.Select crop tool from the tool box.
2.Select the part of image to crop
3.Press enter key so unwanted part will be removed and selected part will remain as it is.
